Everyone has different ideas and dreams for their wedding. Some people dream about getting married in the same place as their parents or at a venue they fantasized about as a kid. However, others may decide they want to get married at a vacation location, usually somewhere tropical or a destination that holds special significance to the couple’s love story — in other words, they want a destination wedding. Destination weddings bring a whole new set of complications to the wedding planning process, and in part one of this series, we will provide you with a few things you should consider as you start planning your destination wedding.
If you’re getting ready to start planning your destination wedding, and you think you need a little extra help, then look no further than Poppati Events! Destination Weddings are our specialty! Timing Is Everything
Picking the date for your wedding early is especially important when you plan a destination wedding. If you want to have all of your friends and family members attend your special day, it’s vital that you give them plenty of advanced notice, especially if they may need to save money for airfare and hotels. Waiting until six months before the wedding like you would with a domestic wedding could result in flight and hotel prices that your family and your bridal party can’t afford. For this reason, it’s a good idea to start planning as early as you can and let your guests know at least eight months in advance.
Additionally, you want to keep the seasons in mind. While it may be summer, sunny, and gorgeous in the United States, you have to keep in mind that it is winter on the other side of the world. It’s a good idea to do some research before picking your date to see what time of year will deliver the best weather for your special day.
See Your Destination in Person
It’s no secret that not everything you read online is true, and the same principle goes for wedding venues. While a venue for your destination may look picture-perfect when you visit their website, that doesn’t mean that it will look exactly the same in person.
We recommend planning a trip to your destination prior to your wedding to help you finalize plans for your wedding before the big day. During your trip, you will have the opportunity to visit your venue, meet with any vendors, and check out the area so you have a better idea of what you can recommend to your guests.
